In today’s society, where globalisation is a reality, it is essential that citizens master more than one language, with English being the communication tool par excellence, and the one with the most speakers worldwide.

Education accompanies this transformation and is based on the assumption that the sooner children are exposed to a second language, the faster and more natural their learning will be. It is also proven that they acquire a broader cultural vision earlier (than monolingual children) and that learning this second language contributes significantly to the development of their cognitive abilities.

An innovative educational approach was created – CLIL (Content and Language integrated Learning) – from this educational emergence of developing quality practices for continuous and in-depth English language training, one that is highly valued by European educational communities.

CLIL combines the learning of disciplinary content and the English language simultaneously, focused on both. The principles of this 4 Cs approach (content, communication, cognition, and culture) allow children to feel comfortable in both languages and to participate in activities learning in an integrated, playful, and fun way.

The CLIL approach generates a stimulating and rich learning environment for children, furthering a positive attitude towards themselves.

At Xilling Baby, children have an exposure to the English language, contextualised in their routines, from an early age. There is a planned activity with the English teacher every day, in order to stimulate and promote the learning of English. Throughout the day and in the development of activities there is, by the educator and teachers of the various areas, the reinforcement of the language in the programmed routines: songs, stories, games, expressions, motor activities… that will allow children to practise and develop oral and communicative interaction skills in English.
